“Reading about the possibilities of new media is just half the work; to see that children have fun in education systems thanks to new media, makes my study complete.”

Since August 2009, Lukie Stalenhoef is a trainee at the Creative Learning Lab. Formerly doing a bachelor in the Liberal Arts & Sciences, she now dedicates herself to the master program in New Media and Digital Culture, where she has already researched several digital issues, such as games and learning opportunities, the blogging community, and the philosophy behind mobile telephones.

Within Creative Learning Lab, Lukie currently works on creativity with regards to education and new media. “I have always been interested in creativity and where it comes from. That my research leads to a publication makes it especially more enjoyable!” Besides doing research, Lukie also helps with events to get some field experience. “I am really happy to be here. To get the opportunity to work with modern and innovative learning tools is definitively not something I would call punishment!”

As a student, Lukie would have loved to play Games Atelier. “Even now I think it is exciting to play Games Atelier, imagine how I would’ve react in my younger ages! What’s special about Games Atelier is that you can create the game yourself. Being able to put your own thoughts into it, is something I think is very valuable.”
